Tamar Guse is based in Waipara and weaves contemporary baskets and
sculptures with a combination of traditional basket weaving techniques, natural
elements, colour and creativity. She teaches basket weaving workshops and has
her art work displayed in local galleries. “The magic of weaving for me is seeing
how a natural object; be it driftwood, vine or antler, determines the shape and
how the colours I incorporate into the basket or sculpture give it its personality. In
this way I am able to create one of a kind pieces inspired by nature.”

In this workshop you will learn basic basketry and weaving techniques with a variety of
materials such as reed, seagrass and driftwood to create your own beautiful and functional
